With Mateo Eusebio, Ethan Fonarev, Nico Hadiaris
In this project we were assigned the task of creating instruments of each of three categories: chime; using metal tubes and their natural frequencies, wind; using air compression to created noise, and strings; strumming a string to create vibration along it. We had to make each of the instruments play a full octave of notes and were given the choice of playing a song using our instruments, although our group chose not too based on our musical abilities.
Concepts
Sound: longitudinal waves created by vibrations. Wavelength of waves determine pitch and amplitude determines volume. The speed of sound is dependent on the medium through which it travels.
Wavelength: length from crest to crest on a wave
Amplitude: height of a wave
Longitudinal wave: a wave created by vibration using air compression
V=λf -wave velocity is equal to wavelength times frequency

Reflection
This project was a tough one. With that being said, I feel that I contributed a lot and that my team worked well together. I cooperated well and worked hard in the time that I had. However, I could have definitely done things better. I did not really work very well with some of my group members because of personality conflicts in the beginning but in the end we got over it. I also feel I could have been a better leader of my group in organizing individual assignments to my group.
