Alternative Concepts
In order to fully understand our product's possibilities, we used our brainstorming Padlet to outline different design choices we could use. These alternative designs each included a brief sketch, list of components, and main features. After planning out each different concept, we were able to evaluate the pros and cons of each to select the best design.
Classification Scheme
To further evaluate our possible design options, we made a classification scheme to compare them. We did the evaluation in three steps. The first step was our initial pass through the concepts and included the basic details of each design concept and function. For our second evaluation, we included more specific details to gain a better understanding of each design possibility. For our last deliberations we decided on our final design selection after evaluating the pros and cons of each design. The document below shows the culminations of our discussions regarding the three designs.
Functional Decomposition
To gain a better understanding of the specific functions of our design, we created a functional decomposition diagram that explains each of the subfunctions that exist under the main product function. Each branch represents one subfunctional and describes the purpose and details of all necessary functions.
Concept Sketches
To further flesh out our ideas, our group created design sketches for possible product ideas, which can be viewed in the document below.
Final Proposal
After completing Design Step 1, we moved into the second design stage were we finalized our initial proposal to create a finalized project proposal. This final proposal incorporated our mentors' feedback in order to improve the design of the product and increase the success of the project. Additionally, we developed a proposal presentation to give to our STEM class, teacher, and mentors.

Reflection
Our team has continued to work very well together at this point. Our communication has stayed consistent and we have continued to get our group assignments done. Our time management during tutorials could still be improved. We should start having planning sessions during tutorials to use our time more effectively. Individually I also want to be able to contribute more. I need to be more confident in sharing my ideas. Overall I am happy with where our team is at at the moment but things could definitely improve.
